Messier 101--A Pinwheel in the Sky. M191, like M51, is a face on spiral galaxy. It is significantly larger than our own Milky Way Galaxy and has a large number of star forming regions. As the images below show, the galaxy is assymetrical due to gravitational interactions with neighboring galaxies. Below are two images. One is a crop of the original, larger image.
