Messier 45, also known as The Pleiades or the Seven Sisters (among many other names), is a cluster of hot, pre-main sequence, B-Type stars in the constellation of Taurus. The nebulosity surrounding the stars was once thought to be left over from their formation, but opinion now is that it is part of the interstellar medium through which the cluster is moving. The Pleiades have a long mythic history in many cultures. In Japan, the cluster is called "Subaru." If you own a Subaru car, you'll see this cluster forming the logo on the vehicle.
